Hearty Naturals Coconut Oil is the perfect base for Non-toxic Face Paint.

Color mixing coconut oil face paint.

Mixing the paint is fun!

Kids love to get their faces painted- they especially love to do it themselves. Playing with the  creamy mixture is messy fun making it perfect for sensory play.  Most of the Halloween face paints for kids have ingredients which can cause an allergic reaction, sting if accidentally placed in the eyes, and even have ingredients considered toxic. Why not give your children a face paint they can play with, paint their own faces, and even eat if they feel so inclined. To make it fun, gather large mixing bowls and rubber spatulas.

Ingredients Needed:

1/4 C. of flour
1/2 C. of cornstarch
1/2 to 1 C. Hearty Naturals Coconut Oil

A pinch of Powdered Drink Mix Packs or a few drops Food Coloring

Pour cornstarch into large bowl.
With spatula mix in coconut oil.
Optional: Mix in 1/2 cup flour.
(Flour gives more of a matte finish, but it also goes bad quicker.)

Store bought Halloween face paint can have toxic ingredients.

Divide into Styrofoam egg carton or ice cube tray.

Mix in a pinch of  a different color drink mix or food coloring into each compartment.

Depending on room temperature you may have to add more cornstarch or water to achieve a proper paint like consistency.  Added bonus = Coconut oil is good for the skin. Most colors will wipe off with a dry cloth. Yellow may require removal with water, cold cream, or use plain coconut oil as a makeup remover.
